PHILLIES CHOKED IT AWAY, AND NO ONE MORE THAN ALVARADO, WATCH!

By Sally Fahey

José Alvarado took a loss and blew a save while allowing three runs in 2/3 of an inning against the Mets in a 6-5 loss for the Phillies.

Alvarado is normally one of the more reliable stoppers in baseball, but he issued a pair of walks and gave up two hits.

He wasn’t helped by his defense, but he threw just 18-of-35 pitches for strikes.
