It was only the first inning of last night’s Dodgers 16-2 slaughter of the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.
But, as Bryce Harper stepped to the plate, some traveling Dodgers fans in the right field stands chanted “overrated.”
As fans continued to chant, Harper stepped up to the plate and hit an opposite-field grounder to beat a heavy shift.
Then, he waived to the fans who had been pestering him from right field.
To be fair to the fans, Harper has not come close to living up to expectations following his massive free-agency contract with Philly.
So far this year, he’s batting .251 with 16 home runs and 62 RBI — pretty paltry stats for a guy making over $25 million per year.
Though, in this case, Harper clearly got the last laugh.
