The wheels are really coming off the Villanova Madness bandwagon.
The Cats were ranked No. 2 or 3 in the nation a little more than a month ago.
Then they lost to St. John’s and Creighton the road, which is not unexpected in the Big East.
But their perimeter defense was exposed, and that’s a part of their game that helped win them national titles in 2016 and 2018.
Then Collin Gillespie wrecked his knee and Justin Moore dinged his ankle.
And yesterday’s loss to Georgetown in the Big East tourney gives the committee plenty of reason to doubt.
The Wildcats are 0-2 without Gillespie with losses to non-tournament teams.
Nova was heading toward the No. 2 seed line just a few weeks ago but now is clinging to the last No. 4 seed.
A drop to No. 5 isn’t out of the question, depending on what happens elsewhere.
