NOVA’S COLLIN GILLESPIE IS A 1ST-TEAM PRESEASON ALL-AMERICAN!

By Melody Miller

Villanova point guard Collin Gillespie has been named by the AP writers to the preseason All-America team.

He was joined by Illinois big man Kofi Cockburn, UCLA guard Johnny Juzang, Indiana forward Trayce Jackson-Davis, and Gonzaga’s Drew Timme, who was the only unanimous selection on all 63 ballots.

The 6-3 Archbishop Wood HS grad averaged 14.0 points and 4.6 assists per game last season, before going down with a leg injury toward the end of the season.

Since 2015, Villanova has had one consensus Player of the Year (Jalen Brunson in 2018) and four All-Americans; Saddiq Bey (2020), Jalen Brunson (2018), Mikal Bridges (2018), Josh Hart (2017).
