NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was hit yesterday with one expected question and one unexpected question when he addressed the media at the owners meetings:
1 — With the perception of sports gambling starting to change, Goodell was asked, more than once, for the league’s stance on the topic. The commissioner agreed it’s gradually becoming a more accepted thing … but the NFL, in no way, shape or form, is on board. Even with the Raiders headed to Las Vegas.
2 — With the Raiders headed to Las Vegas, the NFL is dealing with an entirely new slate of topics. Goodell was asked multiple times about brothels, players gambling, and if there will be punishments for player involvement in either. A report from the USA TODAY stated a Raiders-themed brothel is opening, and it will include player/team specials and discounts.
Goodell made it clear the league’s stance on both is not changing. Involvement in either is a violation of the league’s personal conduct policy.
