While the rest of Philly was watching the Eagles beat the Giants, Fran Dunphy and his Temple Owls were showing why they are a good bet to dance in March.

Jesse Morgan (photo above) drilled five 3-pointers in the second half for 15 points and Jaylen Bond added 12 points and tied a Liacouris Center record with 18 rebounds as Temple defeated Delaware State 66-56 on Sunday.

The Owls (9-4), despite 33-percent shooting, were deadly from deep, hitting 8 of 16 3-point attempts after halftime.

Delaware State (5-8) opened the half on a 9-3 run, closing to 34-30, but Morgan scored Temple’s next 12 points on four straight 3-pointers. Quenton DeCosey and Devin Coleman also drilled treys as Temple scored on six 3-pointers in the first 10 minutes of the second half. Eight of Temple’s 11 second-half field goals were from 3-point range

Amere May, who scored a Division I season-best 48 points earlier this month led the Hornets with 22, and Kendall Gray and Aric Dickerson added 11 each. Gray added 15 boards for his seventh double-double this season.
