MLB TWEAKS: 28 PLAYERS THROUGH MAY 1, GHOST-RUNNERS!

By Sam Bush

MLB and the MLBPA have agreed to expanded 28-man rosters through May 1 and also agreed to bring back the “ghost runner” in extra innings, though only for the 2022 season.

Additionally, over the life of the new CBA is what the New York Post calls the “Shohei Ohtani” rule, which will allow a pitcher to hit for himself and then remain in the game even after his pitching appearance has concluded.

The hope is that it will encourage the arrival of more two-way players.
