MLB DEADLINE: NO DEAL BY FEB 28, REAL GAMES WILL BE MISSED!

By Sam Bush

A Major League Baseball spokesperson said Wednesday that regular season games will be cancelled if an agreement on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement isn’t reached by February 28.

“A deadline is a deadline,” the spokesperson added. “Missed games are missed games. Salary will not be paid for those games.”

Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association met on Wednesday for the third consecutive day, yet the two sides remain far apart on several core economic issues, which include major-league minimum salary, pre-arbitration bonus pools, MLB Draft lottery slots and competitive balance tax (CBT) thresholds.

MLB reportedly doesn’t intend to rewrite the schedule and would simply pick up whenever games begin. Owners are clearly prepared to extend the lockout into March and potentially cancel early-season games.
