If James Harden walks away from the Sixers and into free agency, they’ll have to find a new Robin to Joel Embiid’s Batman.
An NBA scout recently spoke to NBA Analysis Network about one name to watch if Harden leaves this summer. That being Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard.
“One team I’d keep an eye on is the Sixers. If Harden leaves, they’re going to need to find that co-star to pair with Embiid. Lillard has pondered Philly as an option the last few times he’s thought about making that trade request. I wouldn’t put them at the top of the list of trade destinations, but again, that’s a team I’d watch.”
Lillard has been extremely loyal to Portland, but that could change in an instant. They currently find themselves in the draft lottery and are nowhere near close to competing for a title. As he enters his mid-30s, the seven-time All-Star only has so much time left at his peak.
If Harden opts to depart from Philly, Lillard would be an interesting replacement. He fills the vacant spot at point guard and is a complement to Joel Embiid. The two would work well together in the pick-and-roll and could be one of the best offensive duos in the NBA.
I saw the full. And I love Embiid… I also love their roster … did I miss or did you? Basketball talk not personal. https://t.co/MIOYjaTJYr
