MAYBE PHILLIES WILL GET A DH JUMP-START AGAINST TWINS

By Martha Sullivan

The Phillies begin a 10-game, three-city road trip in Minnesota tonight after failing to win a single game on their last home stand. In six losses, the Blue Jays and D-backs outscored the Phils 42-9.

The Twins, who snapped a five-game skid Sunday against the Yankees, will turn to right-hander Tyler Duffey on the mound. Duffey hasn’t posted a quality start since May 15, when he shut out the Indians over seven innings. Since then, he has allowed four or more earned runs in six straight starts.

Right-hander Aaron Nola will start for the Phillies following two difficult outings in which he has allowed a combined 10 earned runs in 6 2/3 innings. His recent struggles have put a damper on an otherwise excellent first half in which he posted nine consecutive quality starts at one point.
