With another disastrous performance by closer Corey Knebel last night against the Miami Marlins, new interim manager Rob Thomson early magic is wearing off.
But Thomson can make the bold move, maybe the only one he’s got and move flamethrower Seranthony Dominguez into the 9th inning roll as closer of the Phillies.
It’s beyond demoralizing for the club to fight back from early deficits of 4-0 to later take the lead of 8-4, then have a shaky bullpen unable to hold a 4 run lead going into the 8th and 9th frames, losing 11-9 to the Fish!
The Phils have been teetering around the .500 mark the last week or so, and it feels as though the bold move to change up the relief pitchers in the later innings is due.
But that’s decision sitting in Thomson’s lap as the team needs to make a move soon to bolster chances to close off these games more efficiently.
