The Sixers are introducing Nick Nurse as the new head coach later today.
They got the most coveted guy in the open market, beating out Milwaukee and Phoenix, who also wanted him.
Nurse won the 2019 NBA title with the Raptors, being credited with slowing down Joel Embiid in the Eastern semi series.
Nurse has a defensive pedigree, just what the Sixers need, and he will take over a team most think should challenge for the title every year, but have come up short.
Embiid and Nurse did meet before the hiring, and the MVP giving his approval of the move is big, convincing all he wants to be coached at a high level.
They will most likely make some moves on the roster but should be able to compete at a high level with a new winning coach in charge.
"In fairness to James Harden & others of the world… believing that he got Doc Rivers fired. There are a plethora of people associated with the Sixers franchise who are not too fond of Doc Rivers and are happy that he is gone."
