What with the addition of Trea Turner and Bryce Harper’s Tommy John surgery, most of the attention on the Phils offseason has been on the offense.
But pitchers (and catchers) are due in Clearwater next week, and the news right out of the box will be on the Phillies rotation.
Zach Eflin, Noah Syndergaard and Kyle Gibson are gone.
So the Phils’ signing of Met starter Taijuan Walker helps.
They have a one-two punch atop the rotation in Aaron Nola and Zack Wheeler.
Walker slots into the third or fourth role, pairing with southpaw Ranger Suárez in the middle.
