LOCAL GUY MAKES GOOD! COREY CLEMENT HAS EAGLES’ ATTENTION!

By Lewis Gould

Undrafted free agent running back Corey Clement is sanguine about his chances to make the roster of the Eagles, his hometown team.

So, tomorrow night’s game at the Jets gives the South Jersey native a real chance to strut his stuff:

“I always wanna do better, but at the same time, I don’t think I did horrible. And that’s what most of the guys outside are gonna tell me how I did,” Clement said yesterday. “Internally I think I did pretty good. Just looking back on the film, I gave everything I had. These past six weeks have flown by pretty quick.

“Now I’m looking at Thursday coming up as the last game, and hopefully, it works for the best come Friday or Saturday. It’s kinda like my re-draft again.”

He said he’s been elevated on the special teams’ units (punt return, kick return), which is a good sign for the Wisconsin alum.

“Just not being at the bottom has really shown a lot of growth,” Clement said. “When I first got here I was last on each one of [the special teams’ units]. Just being able to work my way up just shows the dedication and preparation I applied to this whole deal these past six weeks. Even on the toughest days you gotta sit back and appreciate those days.”

Clement had nine carries for 42 yards (4.7 yards per carry) and one touchdown against the Dolphins last week.

Coach Doug Pederson has been impressed with what Clement has brought to the table this preseason:

“Corey, I’ll tell you, has come in here with a great attitude,” Pederson said yesterday. “From day one when we got him after the draft, from that all the way through training camp, he’s done everything we’ve asked him to do and probably even more. He’s definitely caught our attention.”
