LANE JOHNSON THINKS SPROLES' INJURY WAS A 'CHEAP SHOT'

By Annie Ross

The one potential downer on a decidedly upbeat Eagles’ night was a late injury to running back Darren Sproles.

Sproles was injured in the fourth quarter, and NBC’s Michele Tafoya said trainers on the sideline were checking the stability of his left ACL and MCL.

It is not yet known how serious the injury is the running back suffered in the 27-0 win over the Giants, but after the game, Eagles offensive guard Lane Johnson was not happy with the hit.

“It made me pretty mad, the way it was on the field,” Johnson said to Birds 24/7. “Kind a cheap-shot kind of deal.”

The injury to Sproles happened at the end of a run for no gain. After hitting the wall of defensive lineman, Sproles was dragged down by Giants defensive lineman Markus Kuhn. Sproles leg landed under Kuhn, but as you can see, his body was on top.

But he eventually walked to the locker room under his own power.

Geoff Mosher of CSNPhilly.com caught up with him afterward, and Sproles said only “I’ll be all right.”

The Eagles have a bye week coming up, so he’ll have an extra week to heal.

But if anything keeps him out of the lineup, they’re dangerously thin there, with Curtis Polk the only other running back on the roster.

He was inactive with a hamstring injury last night, leaving tight end Trey Burton to take garbage time handoffs.
