Slowly but surely LaSalle is making its case as a player in the Atlantic-10, whose tournament is five weeks away up in Brooklyn.
Jerrell Wright went 6 for 7 from the field for 15 points and the Explorers held on 64-62 over Richmond on Thursday.
La Salle (13-9, 5-4 Atlantic 10) never trailed but saw an 11-point lead with 4:37 left nearly erased when Terry Allen pulled Richmond (12-10, 5-4) within 62-59 with 20.1 seconds left.
Khalid Lewis made 1 of 2 free throws with 15.9 seconds left and Steve Zack (left in photo above) added another after Alonzo Nelson-Ododa hit a 3-pointer for the Spiders in the final second.
The Explorers had already squandered a 42-26 lead from early in the second when Richmond went on a 16-2 run to get within 44-42 midway through the half.
La Salle opened the game on a 10-0 burst and closed the first half on a 17-5 run.
Jordan Price added 13 points and Lewis 11 for La Salle.
