Joel Embiid played 36 minutes in Sunday’s 108-97 loss to the Knicks, totaling 31 points (6-of-16 FGs, 18-of-19 FTs), 14 rebounds, three assists, one block, and one 3-pointer.
Embiid has scored 30 points or more in 10 of his last 12 games, but Sunday’s point total was a bit deceiving.
The Knicks were able to limit him to 6-of-16 from the field, but he drained 18 free throws, the most he’s made in a game since November 19, when Embiid went 18-of-20 in a loss to the Timberwolves.
The good news for him is that the Sixers won’t play again until Wednesday in Boston, which will begin a stretch of three games in four days. Embiid, who’s been on the injury report with a sore left foot recently, can certainly use an extra day of rest.
