Watching the 76ers’ terrible 38-point loss to the Milwaukee Bucks last Saturday brought me to this absolute conclusion:
Ben Simmons is way more valuable to the Sixers than anyone could imagine!
Simmons is the head of the Sixers snake on offense and defense, and against the Bucks they couldn’t run the offense efficiently the whole game.
With Simmons breakneck pace and finding players in good spots, the “O” runs like an oiled machine, without him it runs not at all.
The top candidate for NBA Defensive Player of the Year plays all over the court, guarding 1 through 5 ( PG, SG, C, SF, PF) with the same results. He pressures all shooters into changing their shots, or flat out blocks jump shots, very rare in today’s NBA.
Without Simmons in the lineup they lost four consecutive games, longest of the year, when he came back versus the Thunder on Monday they broke the losing streak, had 22 steals with Simmons leading the defensive charge, looking quick and cat like after a long absence from NBA play.
No doubt Joel Embiid remains a top MVP candidate, but be sure Ben Simmons is the one who makes the Sixers go, there is no championship run to look forward to without a healthy, active Simmons going into the NBA playoffs.
