JOJO MAKES SHAQ-LIKE MVP CASE: 38 POINTS IN 29 MINUTES!

By Bella Powers

Joel Embiid finished the Sixers 121-82 rout of the Hornets with 38 points (16-of-21 FGs, 6-of-7 FTs), 13 rebounds, five assists, and four blocked shots in 29 minutes.

How dominant were Embiid and the 76ers? He didn’t need to play at all in the fourth quarter.

He’s scored at least 30 points and had three blocked shots in five straight games, joining Shaquille O’Neal as the only players since the NBA-ABA merger to do this.

Betting lines for MVP honors have shifted in Embiid’s direction recently, and he’s also the top-ranked player in 9-cat, per-game value.

Given the fact that he didn’t play at all in the fourth quarter, the chances of Embiid playing Saturday in Indiana should be good.
