Playing the 2020-21 NBA season was always going to be a challenge with COVID-19 still dominating the United States with cases and sadly thousands of daily deaths.
The Sixers were humming along with a 7-1 record when coronavirus protocols hit the team and key players were forced out for at least seven days. Seth Curry, who was off to the best season of his career, was infected, and the NBA made the Sixers play two games with the league minimum of 8, both loses to the Nuggets and Hawks.
Tuesday night versus the Heat they got Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons back.
All Embiid did was scorch the Heat for 45 points, 16 rebounds, taking over the game completely in different times, flashing the MVP skills everyone knows he possesses, the Sixers climbed back into the game, finally winning a overtime thriller 137-134. After the game he praised some of the rookies who played their hearts out in the win that broke a 3 game losing streak.
When the team gets Tobias Harris and Curry back into the starting lineup they can again be a top Eastern Conference contender, with a great opportunity to dO some damage in the playoffs later this year.
With MVP performances by Joel Embiid the sky’s the limit for these new look Sixers.
