JEFF HOFFMAN SAVES PHILS AGAIN — ERA DOWN TO 0.90, WATCH!

By Sam Bush

Jeff Hoffman closed out the Nationals, protecting a two-run lead to earn his third save of the season.

Jose Alvarado came on to get the final two outs in the eighth inning, leaving Hoffman to clean things up in the ninth.

He did allow a one-out double to Joey Gallo that brought the tying run up, but got Ildemaro Vargas on a pop up to second base and Jesse Winker on a fly ball to right field to end it.

Hoffman has been outstanding out of the Phillies’ bullpen this season, registering a 0.90 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and a 27/7 K/BB ratio across 19 1/3 innings.
