JAW-BREAKING FOUL SENDS PHILS RHYS HOSKINS TO 10-DAY DL!

By Sam Bush

It turns out that Phils outfielder Rhys Hoskins got more than a bloody mouth Monday night when he fouled a pitch off his face:

A fractured jaw, which will send him to the 10-day disabled list.

A CT scan following Tuesday’s victory over the Dodgers revealed the injury, and Hoskins flew to Philly to see a specialist today to determine whether Hoskins needs surgery.

The Phillies will wait until that evaluation before they place him on the 10-day disabled list, although Phillies manager Gabe Kapler said it is likely.

“Obviously, it makes it a little bit tougher knowing that I can play with little to no pain,” Hoskins said. “But you have to put your health first at some point. It’s just an unfortunate situation.”

Hoskins is hitting .233 with six home runs, 28 RBIs and a .778 OPS in 216 plate appearances.
