IT CAN’T HURTS! WHY EAGLES BENCHED WENTZ FOR ROOK JALEN

By Art Beitchman

After weeks of pedestrian play from Eagles QB Carson Wentz, the hammer got dropped on him after another bad performance versus the Green Bay Packers in an eventual 30-16 loss.

Midway through the 3rd quarter, rookie QB Jalen Hurts replaced the troubled signal caller.

Wentz had generated 3 points on a Jake Elliott FG in the 1st quarter. Once again Wentz couldn’t find receivers open, took sacks, the same terrible M. O. from their “franchise” quarterback!

Hurts looked good in spurts in his first real action this season. He threw a nice ball down the sideline to fellow rook Jalen Reagor, got his 1st NFL TD pass to Greg Ward Jr., a 34 yarder in the back of the end zone.

Doug Pederson finally came to his senses yesterday, naming Hurts his starter for the final 4 games to see what they have with the young, mobile QB.

It’s a perfect time to let Hurts finish this year, and let him get experience as a starter, then make a decision in the off season which player to make the QB long term.

Next Sunday the Birds take the field at LFF vs the 10-2 New Orleans Saints with QB Drew Brees about to make his return from injury, December 13th, 4:25pm/Fox
