ISN’T IT TIME FOR FLYERS TO TRADE MASON OR NEUVIRTH?

By Jack Ryan

The Flyers have three goalies and only two roster spots.

So, it may be time to trade Steve Mason.

The Flyers started Anthony Stolarz last Sunday in a historic 5-3 win over the Calgary Flames. He stopped 29 of 32 shots in his professional debut.

So, isn’t it time for the Flyers to move on from either Mason or Michal Neuvirth.

While Mason’s play toward the end of last season was spectacular, he was less than perfect in the playoffs against the Capitals.

Enter Neuvirth, who allowed two goals in more than 100 shots over a two-game span. If Neuvirth were to play toward the end of last season the Flyers might not have made the playoffs, where if Mason finished the series against the Caps, the Flyers would have gone home after four games.

Neuvirth is out for another two-four weeks with a lower body injury. Before suffering the injury, Neuvirth was 4-2 with a GAA (goals against average) of 3.54. Once he returns, he should find his form and settle into the goalie he was in the playoffs last season.
