Is bad boy wide receiver Josh Gordon just reinstated by NFL yesterday, headed to the Eagles?
“I wouldn’t be surprised if we look down the landscape that a receiver pops up,”ESPN NFL insider John Clayton said today on 97.5 the Fanatic.
“Let’s say for example that the Cleveland Browns want to trade Josh Gordon. What teams might be interested? Philly might be one of those teams that would consider it. You’d be getting a great talent cheap and he could fit the outside spot.”
The Eagles certainly could use depth at wide receiver since they didn’t have a a 1,000-yard receiver last season.
Gordon has twice been suspended for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy, including after being arrested for driving while impaired in 2014.
When active, Gordon has shown the upside of being a prolific wide receiver. The 25-year-old has posted 161 receptions for 2,754 yards and 14 touchdowns in 35 games.
“I’m just intrigued by what Howie Roseman has done this offseason,” Clayton said. “What he’s done is take the core group of this team from the 2012 draft and 2013, extended them and tried to to do a two-pronged plan by one; re-signing Sam Bradford and two; trading up to draft Carson Wentz and get a quarterback of the future. I just find it intriguing. He’s tried to answer all questions and build on it.”
