Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports that the Marlins remain engaged on free agent outfielder Nick Castellanos.
The Marlins fell short in their efforts to bring back center fielder Starling Marte, who has reportedly agreed to a four-year, $78 million deal with the division-rival Mets, but they’re still looking to upgrade their outfield this offseason.
Castellanos, a Florida native, would fit the bill as a middle-of-the-order run-producer, but he’s likely to command a massive multi-year deal this offseason. Stay tuned.
