IF EAGLES RUN TABLE VS. NYG, WFT AND DALLAS, THEY’LL WIN NFC EAST!

By Teddy Brenner

Okay, the Eagles go back to work today at NovaCare to prepare for the second half of this bizarre season.

And they have remaining games against the Giants, Washington and Dallas.

After the Giants beat Washington yesterday and the Cowboys lost to the Steelers, the NFC East standings look like this:

TEAM
WIN
LOSS
TIE
DIV. RECORD
EAGLES
3
4
1
2-1
WFT
2
6
0
2-2
Cowboys
2
7
0
1-2
Giants
2
7
0
2-2

If the Eagles win those three division games, the worst they could finish would be 6-9-1. The Cowboys and Giants would have at least eight losses, and Washington would have at least seven losses. That means the Giants or Cowboys would need to go unbeaten in their remaining games to have a better record than the Eagles — and Washington would have only a one-game margin for error. Those scenarios seem unlikely. And even if any did occur, the Eagles would need to lose their other five games for another team to win the division.
