Bradley Beal told the Bleacher Report’s Taylor Rooks that the opportunity to win will ultimately determine what he does in free agency.
It was reported in May that Beal, who will opt out of the final season of his contract to become a free agent this summer, was leaning towards signing an extension to remain with the Wizards. While he did not say anything about where he’ll be playing next season in his interview, the star guard did note that the opportunity to win will heavily influence his decision.
“I know what my decision will be based off of, and that’s gonna be where I feel like I can win. That’s going to be my decision,” Beal told Rooks.
“If I feel like I can win in D.C., that’s what I’m gonna do, and I want people to respect that. You may or you may not, but I’m gonna work my ass off and I’m gonna compete and I wanna make this team better. If it’s elsewhere, it’s going to be the exact same commitment.”
Beal’s 2021-22 season came to an early end due to a left wrist injury that ultimately required surgery.
