HOLD ON A SECOND — PAPELBON HAS DRAWN INTEREST FROM TORONTO

By Harry Allison

We reported late yesterday that the trade market had dried up for Phillies’ whining, overpaid closer Jonathan Papelbon.

Hold your horses.

Or should I say Blue Jays.

Now comes word out of Boston, where Papelbon actually was a great closer before becoming a toxic presence in Philly, that there is interested north of the border.

After a simmering deal with the Brewers fizzled, the Blue Jays have popped up as a landing spot for the 34-year old ex-Red Sox closer. Would he go?

Yes, Toronto, interests me…I know some of the guys on their coaching staff. They’re a good team…I’d be interested.”
