The Sixers are getting some help recruiting King LeBron James.
From the CEO of a small business in Chester.
Power Home Remodeling paid to display billboards for three months along I-480 in the Cleveland area.
The first board depicts a possible starting five, with James’ No. 23 alongside the numbers of current 76ers Robert Covington, Joel Embiid, Dario Saric and Ben Simmons.
The next two billboards say “Complete The Process” and “#PhillyWantsLeBron.”
The co-CEO of the remodeling company, Asher Raphael, told USA TODAY Sports that the company paid for the billboards to put the Sixers at the front of the conversation of free-agency destinations for James this summer.
“I think it’s a win-win,” Raphael said. “I think that for LeBron to go from part of the conversation of being the best player ever to being the leading candidate, he needs to win a couple more championships. And I think if he comes to Philadelphia, I think we’re the best team in the league the day he shows up. He’d have young legs around him and the best sports fans in the country.”
James has a player option for next season, giving him the choice of remaining in Cleveland or entering free agency and exploring his options.
“Our goal in this was to be advertising Philadelphia,” Raphael said. “Philly’s just a great place to live. Our city is thriving. The business community is thriving. Our restaurant scene is thriving. … It’s just the right time, and the right match.”
