HERE’S WHY VILLANOVA WILL WIN GEORGETOWN REMATCH ON FEB. 7

By David F. Cohen

If you are a Villanova basketball fan you are probably still in a funk after Monday night’s 78-58 loss at Georgetown.

Especially after the Hoya fans stormed the court (photo above), pissing off coach John Thompson III and the goddess of gloating.

Take heart. Or is that Josh Hart?

The Cats will win the rematch on Feb. 7 at the Wells.

Here’s why:

Ryan Arcidiacono is scoring again.

Darrun Hilliard and JayVaughn Pinkston were perfect from the free throw line.

Hart had no turnovers.

That’s it. Villanova’s loss to Georgetown wasn’t surprising.

The Big East is deep and competitive, and the Hoyas might be the second-best team in the conference. But the way Villanova lost was surprising.

Hilliard has to play better, Pinkston has to play better, Dylan Ennis has to play better. Daniel Ochefu too.

Let’s fast-forward to Saturday afternoon February 7, when Villanova begins the following stretch:

Georgetown, at Providence, at Butler, Seton Hall, at Marquette, and Providence again.

My bet is that the Cats will fare quite well.
