What many 76ers fans may not know is that Embiid was sent to Qatar, the Middle Eastern country whose national basketball team ranks 50th in FIBA world rankings. The Sixers flew him to Doha to rehab at a sports science facility and sports medicine hospital called Aspetar, on the advice of Philly’s world-renowned sports scientist Dr. David Martin, who came from the Australian Institute of Sport last July after 30 years working in the land down under.
