Brian Elliott made 23 saves, James van Riemsdyk scored two goals and Ivan Provorov had three points to help the Flyers beat the Devils, 5-3.

James Van Riemsdyk gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead when he deflected a shot from the slot at 15:03 of the first period. The goal came 52 seconds after New Jersey forward Yegor Sharangovich hit the post on a shorthanded breakaway.

Van Riemsdyk made it 2-0 on another deflection at the left post 59 seconds into the second period. Four of his five goals this season have been on the power play.

“You try to use the time that you have in the offseason to prepare yourself the best you can to play, and sometimes you get a little bit of puck luck and stuff like that too, so that’s been good,” van Riemsdyk said. “Obviously, I’m just trying to go out there every game and be consistent from game to game, practice to practice. We have a lot of good players to play with, so that makes it fun.”
