HERE’S HARPER’S NUANCED SHOT AT FIRED PHILS MANAGER GIRARDI!

By Peter Marx

Bryce Harper got the Phils even in the 8th inning yesterday with a grand slam against the Angels.

Then Bryson Stott won it in the 9th with a three-run homer.

After the game, Harper dropped a quote that could be construed as a shot across the bow of Joe Girardi.

“I’m so happy for (Stott), man. What an at-bat. What a situation for him. Being able to put our trust in our young guys the last couple days, and really let them just play,” he said.

“It’s been great. And it paid off today.”

“The last couple days” was a clear reference to how Rob Thomson has handled the line-up as opposed to the fired Gorardi.

Harper’s quote was a nuanced shot at Girardi and his inflexibility about personnel.
