HERE ARE 6 EAGLES WHO DIDN’T EVEN MAKE IT TO 4 PM TODAY!

By Max Harper

Cutdown deadline for the Eagles is 4 pm this afternoon.

They have to get down to the Final 53 that will start the season on Sept. 11 in Detroit.

The Birds got a head start yesterday:

C Cameron Tom, per Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork. The Eagles added Tom to the roster just before the start of training camp, and he made it all the way through. Tom got a lot of work in the preseason games, as he played 65 snaps against the Dolphins, 28 snaps against the Browns, and 34 snaps against the Jets.

S Jaquiski Tartt, per Adam Caplan. Tartt was a second-round pick of the Niners in 2015 out of Samford who has played in 80 regular season games, with 64 starts. In 2021, Tartt had 66 tackles (5 for loss), with just one pass breakup and no interceptions. At the time of his signing in mid-June, Tartt was thought to be a solid veteran addition to the Eagles’ safety group, which was in need of solid depth, however, he was mostly invisible throughout camp.

QB Carson Strong, per Jonathan Jones of CBS. After signing a contract that guaranteed hi $320,000, Strong had a very rough start to camp, and pretty much became a spectator the rest of the way. He only attempted four passes in the preseason games. I would say it’s unlikely that the team will even bring him back to the practice squad.

RB Jason Huntley, according to Mike Kaye. Huntley had a 67-yard TD run in the final preseason game (above). He has good speed and is a good kick returner, but he did not do enough to make the roster.

DT Renell Wren, per Caplan. He was the least likely interior defensive lineman to make the team. Wren could still come back to the practice squad, but likely only if the Eagles are unable to bring back Marvin Wilson and/or Kobe Smith.

TE Richard Rodgers, per Chris Franklin. But if history is any guide, Rodgers will be back.
