There is a fascinating subplot in the Villanova-Delaware match-up this Friday in Pittsburgh as March Madness tips off:
The blue Hens coach, Marty Ingelsby, is the son of Cats great Tom Ingelsby, one of the stars of the 1971 team which lost to UCLA for the national title.
But the smart guys along the Strip don’t care much about family.
They have opened Nova as a 17-point fave.
The Hens got an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament by winning the CAA, and they had a great offensive season, but the defense struggled, especially when defending the 3-ball.
The Wildcats have limited teams to 31% from three and 48.2% from inside the arc this season. On the offensive end, Big East teams struggled to stop Villanova. Delaware will have an even harder time against the defending Big East champions.
WynnBet opened Villanova as 16 1/2-point favorites over Delaware.
