A HEALTHY HOWIE KENDRICK AT LEAST GIVE PHILLIES A SHOT TO WIN!

By Art Beitchman

It’s not a coincidence that the Phillies’ offense is more efficient when left fielder Howie Kendrick is penciled in the lineup by manager Pete Mackanin.

Kendrick went on the disabled list April 16th with an oblique strain, since then the Phillies offense had been stuck in mud — they went through a disastrous May winning only six ball games, losing 22.

Kendrick has only played 18 games, but has batted .333 and has given the Phils the veteran leadership at the top of the lineup.

They recently won four straight with Kendrick back.

This years’ offense will never be a powerhouse, but hey somehow need to keep Kendrick healthy to give this ball club any chance of competing until the young guns on the farm come up to bolster this up and mostly down offense.
