The fact is that the USA held no cards in this deal, and there was no negotiation with Vlad Putin.
It’s amazing the State Department was able to get her out at all, especially given our support for Ukraine against the Russian invaders.
But maybe Secretary of State Jamie Lynch knows something the rest of the sane world doesn’t?
