GIRARDI STUCK WITH BROGDON TOO LONG, AND IT IT COST PHILS!

By Sam Bush

It looked to a lot of fans that Phils manager Joe Girardi stayed with reliever Connor Brogdon too long last night, and it may have cost them the win.

Two of the Phillies best relievers, José Alvarado and Archie Bradley, are injured and the pitching depth is shallow.

So, Girardi rode Brogdon — who hadn’t allowed a run since last August — for 30 pitches and six runs.

“You know, I just felt like he was going to get them out,” Girardi said. “I did. I really did.”
