Stockton College, in Galloway Township near the Jersey shore, is the 76ers new training camp location, and the mood is decidedly more upbeat than it has been in years.
In preparation for the 2014-15 NBA season, media day and picture-taking took place on Tuesday with top pick Joel Embiid posing without his walking boot for the first time, giving 76ers fans a glimpse of what could be when all the pieces are on the court, and begin jelling together.
And he and Michael Carter-Williams and Nerlens Noel look like they are going to have a lot of fun and create a lot of fun for the fans.
At last!
The key word for 76ers fans this season remains “patience,” with Embiid still not 100%, and first-round pick Dario Saric still playing in Croatia, with the possibility of playing next year.
Piece by piece is still the only way to a build competing team in today’s NBA. MCW, Noel and Tony Wroten will to continue to grow with some of the second-round round picks Sam Hinkie drafted last June — like newly signed K. J. McDaniels —and will take the court next week.
The preseason begins October 6 with the 76ers @ Celtics—7:30pm—TCN, followed by, October 8, Hornets @ 76ers—7pm—TCN….
