James Casey was the odd man out in the Eagles tight end corps — he was fourth behind Zach Ertz, Brent Celek and Trey Burton.
So the Birds cut him last week to give himn plenty of time to hook up with another NFL team.
And it appears Casey is taking full advantage of that.
According to Mike Klis of the Denver Post, Casey is visiting the Broncos Thursday, in addition to a trip to Arizona.
Casey’s a versatile player on offense and special teams, the kind of guy who has value. Just not the $4 million it would have required for the Eagles to hang onto him.
And with his former Houston coach Gary Kubiak in Denver, it makes plenty of sense. In 2012 with the Texans, Casey had 34 receptions for 330 yards and three touchdowns, which helped him earn the Eagles contract.
