FOR FLYERS CAPTAIN CLAUDE, IT WAS BETTER TO BE LUCKY THAN GOOD!

By Julie Glass

In the win Tuesday night against Columbus, Flyers Claude Giroux earned the 235th power-play assist of his career — which gave him sole possession of the franchise lead, ahead of Bobby Clarke — in highlight-reel fashion.

After being knocked off his feet in a collision with Riley Nash, Giroux had yet to fully regain his footing when Konecny, for some reason, decided to pass him the puck.

Giroux was unfazed, quickly tossing it right back to Konecny, who found Jakub Voracek for a one-timer goal. Voracek’s reaction was priceless — simultaneously happy for his longtime teammate, and also acknowledging that this was a night when even ridiculous plays were going the Flyers’ way.
