FLYERS’ SIMMONDS TO RANGERS COACH: DROP DEAD, I’M NOT DIRTY

By Sarah Berkowitz

The Flyers’ Wayne Simmonds was pissed off.

New York Rangers head coach Alain Vigneault continued to rant about how the NHL was wrong for not disciplining Simmonds for last weekend’s gloved punch to the head of Ryan McDonagh, who began the incident following his cross check up high, Simmonds took notice.

“Vigneault can say whatever he wants. He’s the coach, that’s his opinion,” Simmonds said. “I don’t really care. I’m protecting myself; guy comes to cross check you in the head. I didn’t know what he expected. I had no intention of hurting him and I feel bad about that. That’s not what I want.”
