The Flyers have traded captain Claude Giroux to the Florida Panthers.
Giroux, 34, is a pending unrestricted free agent and was expected to be moved before the NHL’s trade deadline on March 21.
He had to waive his no-movement clause that was part of his $66.2 million, eight-year contract
Full trade:
To #FlaPanthers: Claude Giroux, 2024 5th round pick, Connor Bunnaman, German Rubtsov.
To #Flyers: Owen Tippett, 2024 1st round pick, 2023 3rd round pick, retain 50% on Giroux. https://t.co/CuwOiy3Hbi

Sources say Claude Giroux notified #Flyers he was only willing to accept a trade to #FlaPanthers. That was his team, the destination. Florida knew that.
I'm told #Flyers never engaged in conversation with #Avs – or any other team for that matter.
