FLYERS OPEN IN ALLENTOWN, STAY CLOSE TO HOME IN PRESEASON

By Jack Ryan

Now that the deification of new Flyers coach Dave Hakstol is on hold — BTW, did anyone read every word of Daily News’ suck-up Frank Seravalli’s seemingly 50,000-word homage last week???? — the Flyers have to hustle to make news for a while.

After all, Paul Holmgren’s profligacy as GM has left Ron Hextall precious little cap space to add players.

So:

The Flyers’ 2015-16 preseason schedule is out.

They’ll open under new coach Dave Hakstol on Sept. 21 by playing split-squad games in Allentown, home to AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms, and against the Islanders at their new home in Brooklyn.

All seven of their games will be against three teams that aren’t far from Philadelphia … the Rangers, Devils and Islanders.

Here’s the Flyers’ entire preseason schedule:

Monday, Sept, 21: vs. Islanders, PPL Center in Allentown, 7 p.m.

Monday, Sept. 21,: at Islanders, Barclays Center, TBA

Tuesday, Sept. 22: vs. Rangers, Wells Fargo Center, 7 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 25: vs. NY Islanders, Wells Fargo Center, 7 p.m.

Monday, Sept. 28: at NY Rangers, Madison Square Garden, 7 p.m.

Wednesday, Sept. 30: vs. New Jersey, Wells Fargo Center, 7 pm.

Friday, Oct. 2, 2015: at New Jersey, Prudential Center, 7 p.m.
