The Flyers and Belfor Property Restoration will host a local frontline worker and their immediate family for each Flyers home game during the 2020-2021 season.
With general fan admission on hold because of the COVID pandemic, those honored will get to watch the Flyers play from seats built on a custom platform located safely behind the Flyers bench and adjacent to Gritty’s performance stage, giving them unprecedented access to the sights and sounds of NHL hockey. The program will continue throughout the entire season, including when fans are able to attend home games.
“Essential and frontline workers throughout the Philadelphia region are sacrificing so much for our community, so we’re thrilled to create a truly unique experience for these local heroes at each Flyers home game this season,” said President of Business Operations, Philadelphia Flyers and Wells Fargo Center, Valerie Camillo. “Even though we can’t yet welcome fans into the arena, we’re excited that we are able to host one frontline family at each home game to see live NHL action like never before.”
Along with the launch of the program, the Flyers also announced the first honorees, Amanda and Josh Hatheway of Langhorne, PA, who are set to attend tonight’s season opener against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Amanda is a nurse at St. Mary’s Medical Center and Josh, who also works for St. Mary’s, is an EMT and clinical lead for all of the hospital’s emergency room technicians. Amanda provides care for patients through St. Mary’s Home Care Services while Josh services those in the trauma unit. The honored couple will be joined by their young sons, Westin and Carson.
