The Flyers have 1.8% chance of winning the top pick Wednesday night when the NHL conducts its draft lottery.
There will be two drawings, one for the first overall pick, and then another drawing for the second overall pick. The teams in the draft lottery consist of the 15 teams that did not qualify for the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs as well as the expansion Seattle Kraken.
Here are the odds for the first Lottery Draw of the 2021 NHL Draft Lottery:
The teams not selected in the Draft Lottery will be assigned selections 3 through 16, in inverse order of regular-season points.
The Flyers have a 1.8% chance of winning the lottery, so in all likelihood they will be drafting in the teens. They could move up a slot or two if the Stars or Rangers get either of the first two picks.
We all remember back in 2017 when the Flyers won the No. 2 overall pick in the lottery with just a 2.4% chance of picking second overall. They drafted Nolan Patrick with that pick.
The 2021 NHL Draft will be held virtually and is set to take place on Friday, July 23 for the first round and Saturday, July 24 for Rounds 2 through 7.
