So what is an acceptable way to bury the hatchet between Eagles coach Chip Kelly and pissed-off ex-Eagle running back Shady McCoy, who will play for the Buffalo Bills this Sunday?
Check out these suggestions from Michael Tunison of Sports on Earth::
• Kelly charters an airplane with the banner “WHY CAN’T WE BE FRIENDS” to fly over Lincoln Financial Field.
• Kelly opens the game by ripping apart a pinata of longtime McCoy nemesis Osi Umenyiora. It probably won’t help to prove that Chip doesn’t hate black people, but Shady should enjoy it.
• To respond to Rex Ryan making McCoy a team captain for the Bills on Sunday, Kelly appoints a group of civil rights leaders as captains for the Eagles.
• Kelly dons a fake mustache just before the end of the game and finagles a handshake from McCoy before he realizes who it really is. Still counts.
• Kelly leaks to the media that he had to stop Cooper from taking the field in blackface and suspends the receiver for one game. It isn’t true, but that doesn’t matter — and no one believes Cooper, anyway. Would it smooth things over with LeSean? Couldn’t hurt.
