EX-EAGLES QB VICK, WHOSE CAREER MAY BE OVER, SAYS HE CAN OUTRUN CAM NEWTON!

Ex-Eagles quarterback Michael Vick wants a job.

Appearing at a celebrity golf tournament in North Carolina, Vick said he still hoped to play this season, but wasn’t interested in joining a bad team.

“I’m going to continue to stay optimistic about my 2016 season and try to enjoy it,” Vick told the Charlotte Observer. “I wouldn’t say that I would go to any of the 32 teams. At this point in my career I would love to play for a contender. If anything, you’ve just got to be willing to make a contribution. In the NFL, that’s what it’s all about.”

Vick also said he thought he’d still be one of the three fastest quarterbacks in the league, adding he thought he was faster than Cam Newton (who ran a 4.59 40 before he was drafted, compared to Vick’s 4.33), and that Russell Wilson, Colin Kaepernick and Robert Griffin III might challenge him.

“No, Cam can’t beat me in the 40,” Vick said. “But his speed is decent. Decent speed. Good enough. Fast enough, I will say that.”

The 36-year-old Vick said earlier this offseason he thought he had one good season left in him, and he was inoffensive enough in his three starts with the Steelers last year to think someone might be interested, at some point.

But at this point, everyone has a full roster and most have four quarterbacks for camp, so Vick’s hopes of getting one last crack at the league may have already passed him by.
