ESPN DIGITHEAD PISSES ON SIXERS’ J. J. REDICK $23 MILLION DEAL!

Redick is the best player on our list, but is included here because of his outrageous price tag: $23 million. However, once we adjust for the quality of his teammates, things stop looking so great. Chris Paul appears to be the driving force behind Redick’s plus-minus numbers. One has to wonder, then, whether Redick’s shooting numbers will suffer if he isn’t surrounded by the league’s best passer as well as two of the league’s best rolling, alley-oop-catching big men. Conventional wisdom says we’ll see Redick’s efficiency numbers drop and his turnover numbers go up.

The 76ers’ roster isn’t exactly overflowing with outside shooters, so Redick isn’t a terrible fit. But it seems unlikely they’ll make the playoffs next season, so essentially they spent $23 million on a mediocre one-year rental they didn’t really need:
